Now that you’ve got the ring, and everybody from here to Germany knows you’re
getting married comes the fun part! The part that doesn’t feel so fun once you see the
financial damage done or invoices that need to be paid! It’s so easy to want to point
fingers but all you can seem to get out of your mouth from shock is: did I do that?
Understanding your budget is key to successfully planning a one for the books wedding!
Studies from 2017 and 2018 show over 50% of couples spend way more than they
planned for their wedding! It’s the easiest thing to do when you’re excited, happy and
thrilled your special day is coming. As a wedding planner, I know firsthand how quickly
this can come as a surprise for couples as they plan their weddings. The following are 3
tips to keep in mind when opting to have a budget or not in planning your wedding.
At all cost, AVOID the pay as you go attitude! This is
perfectly okay in life if you choose to with paying bills, purchasing things or
anything else BUT it’s not a great idea when you’re planning a wedding. Even
if the surplus is there to splurge, it’s always best to have an ideal budget
amount set on what you’d like to spend overall for your wedding. A
professional wedding planner is skilled in assisting you with how to divide the
cost and many other things.
While planning your day,
don’t lose sight that you must live after the wedding. True, your wedding day
will be a beautiful day for the both of you, but when it’s all over with, the real
life begins once you go home together as a married couple. There will be
other goals the two of you will have such as: paying off credit cards, previous
debt, saving to purchase a home, starting a family, etc.
This pill doesn’t have to be so hard to swallow.
The expectation that nothing will happen, everything must be perfect can be a
little unrealistic. Try to breathe and relax and think through your thoughts and
what you’re feeling.
At the end of the day, you must trust your team and communicate with them what you
really want!! A lot of high expectations come from a lack of knowledge of two things:
1.Knowing how much things cost 2.Not really clear on what you really want and waiting to hear
it from someone else. This can be dangerous while relying too much on Pinterest or other
people’s weddings! This highlights the importance of working with a professional wedding
planner and polished vendors! A polished vendor is someone who operates at the same
excellence as your wedding planner. They too are determined to exceed their couple’s
expectations and wow the guests. Polished vendors know all the ends and outs of budgets and
staying within that set amount to give you the highest quality of service. We are experts in our
crafts and have witnessed all the pitfalls associated with weddings. Allowing us the opportunity
to work alongside you minimizes the risk taken when expectations are set too high. Keep these
tips in mind when carefully plugging in that magic number to stay within your budget and the “did I do that” feeling can skip you and your future spouse while planning your spectacular
wedding!
